Catherina O’Sullivan Welcomes New Language Planning Officer Agreement in Cahersiveen

Catherina O’Sullivan, Aontú candidate for the Kenmare Local Electoral Area (LEA), warmly welcomes the recent Service Level Agreement signed between Kerry County Council (KCC) and Glór na nGael regarding the employment and management of an Oifigeach Pleanála Teanga (Language Planning Officer) for the Cahersiveen Language Plan.

Welcoming the agreement, Catherina O’Sullivan expressed her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the importance of the Irish language to both Kerry and the Irish culture. “As a mother whose children attend a Gaelscoil, I understand the vital role that the Irish language plays in our heritage and identity. This initiative will significantly bolster the efforts to preserve and promote the Irish language in Cahersiveen and the surrounding areas,” she said.

The agreement signifies a pivotal step in ensuring the Irish language flourishes in the region. The recruitment process for the Language Planning Officer will begin immediately, aiming to implement a comprehensive language plan with the support and partnership of all local stakeholders, including community groups, businesses, and schools.
