Catherina O’Sullivan Highlights Critical Road Infrastructure Issues in Kenmare Local Electoral Area

Aontú candidate Catherina O’Sullivan, has brought attention to the critical state of road infrastructure within the Kenmare Local Electoral Area (LEA). Emphasising the urgent need for improvements, O’Sullivan has called for immediate action to address the deteriorating road surfaces and the neglected roadside vegetation to enhance safety for all road users.

“While out canvassing across South Kerry, you see for yourself the deteriorating road conditions, with numerous potholes and uneven road surfaces that compromise road safety and pedestrian welfare. The situation is exacerbated by neglected roadside maintenance, where overgrown trees and shrubs obscure vital road signs, and high grass at junctions blocks drivers’ views, significantly increasing the risk of accidents,” O’Sullivan stated.

Addressing these concerns, O’Sullivan is advocating for a comprehensive plan to repair and maintain road surfaces across the LEA. This plan includes a detailed schedule for cutting back overgrown vegetation that obscures road signs and junction views. These measures are crucial for preventing accidents and improving the overall safety and quality of life for the residents throughout South Kerry and those who visit the area.

“People feel that our roads across the towns and villages of South Kerry are not being properly maintained by the council. The current state of our roads and the overgrown vegetation is unacceptable,” O’Sullivan added. “I am committed to pushing for these necessary improvements to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
